Introducing Hairbond Artistic Team member and Hairbond Ambassador: John Bourne
Barbering is in the blood of Jon Bourne of Barbertown in Worcester: he grew up spending time in his father’s barbershop in the late 1970s and 1980s, in a time when customers used to share cigarettes with the barbers and he knew he’d always be a barber.
“We lived above my dad’s shop, so I spent my childhood emptying the ashtrays, brushing the floors and listening to the men chat and socialise. The family feel is important in barbering, my dad still works now in his 70s and we deal with 3 year olds right through to 93 year olds.”
Jon prides himself on creating a fun environment, barbering isn’t just about the haircut – you can enjoy a whisky and have a game of pool or pinball in his salons. Social Media has had a real impact on delivering his talents to a wider audience: “we’ve got tens of thousands of followers on Social Media and people get in touch from all over the world to talk about our work. It’s great.”
Jon is part of the Hairbond Artistic Team and will be delivering national seminars covering all aspects of barbering, from hair styling secrets to barbering fundamentals.
